Nationalities
There are 7 nationalities in Seven Kingdoms (Chinese, Vikings, Mayans, Japanese, Persians, Greeks and Normans( and another three in Ancient Adversaries (Mughuls, Egyptians and Zulus). They differ in look and skills. Some of them use their brutal attack, some of them are highly depended on their skills, some honor man to man fighting and others prefer shooting waves of arrows. Playing each require different playing style, some of them need attack in numbers, but don't need much skill, others like squadron of highly skilled elite soldiers while with others you have to micro a lot to utilize their skills.
Remember that the term "Berseker attack" in this text mean strong hit with really long delay. It is an automatic attack that is constantly charging, not depended on what your soldier is doing. Between those attacks your soldier can normally fight, travel or rest. By term "Berseker nations" are meant nations that are capable of this type of attack. There are three Berseker nations and one special. Japanese, Vikings and Mughuls are typical Berseker nations, Egyptians are special in that way of ranged Berseker attack.
Lets have ADPD as abbreviation of average damage per delay, because average damage per second cannot be used due to variable game speed.
And for the last, term basic mean attack that doesn't require skill.
Chinese
- Basic close combat damage
- 6-16
- delay: 2
- Ranged damage
- 5-8
- delay: 7
- skill required: 30
- basic close combat ADPD: 5,5
- ranged ADPD: 0,929
- skill required: 30
Summary
Chinese are very strong, they have second best ADPD in game. They have low damage ranged attack in low skill level though. So due to automatic preference of ranged attack, you'll catch your troops firing from bows while only front line doing solid damage. This disadvantage will be even greater to archery nations, so you have to counter it by manually sending your troops forward, towards their opponents. When you get into it, Chinese will kill nearly anyone, weakening close combat nations before they come to close combat and then tear them by microing every soldier toward his enemy.
Greeks
- Basic close combat damage
- 5-8
- delay: 1
- Basic shield
- basic close combat ADPD: 6,5
Summary
Greeks are very simple nation without any skill gain. But you would want to attack with highly trained troops, just because they have a lot of hit points. They have best ADPD in game and they have a shield, which serves as a good defense against ranged attack thus making Greeks anti-archery nation.
Japanese
- Basic close combat damage
- 5-8
- delay: 2
- Berseker damage
- 32
- delay: 90
- skill required: 55
- basic close combat ADPD: 3,25
- Berseker close combat ADPD: 3,527
- skill required: 55
Summary
Japanese are first of Berseker nations. ADPD with their Berseker attack is only slightly better then their basic ADPD and cannot match Chinese or Greek ADPD. So how to fight with this nation? Concentrate your first Berseker attack on one of their soldier and quickly kill him. You can do it really fast with Berseker attack. You can even run from enemy troops after using it and turn back after it is recharged again.
Maya
- Basic close combat damage
- 8-14
- delay: 3
- basic close combat ADPD: 3,666
Summary
Mayan have third greatest ADPD, no other skill, so they are even more plain than Greeks. You'll have to outnumber your enemy to win.
Normans
- Basic close combat damage
- 5-10
- delay: 3
- Ranged damage
- 7-10
- delay: 8
- skill required: 50
- Shield
- skill required: 30
- basic close combat ADPD: 2,5
- ranged ADPD: 1,063
- skill required: 30
Summary
Normans are very versatile. They can shoot quite well and even block enemy arrows. Thats why they are quite popular. The only drawback is only average close combat damage and quite high level required for archery. It is probably best to train your Normans up to skill level around 50 and then send them to heat of battle.
Persians
- Basic close combat damage
- 3-6
- delay: 3
- Basic ranged damage
- 6-12
- delay: 6
- basic close combat ADPD: 1,5
- basic ranged ADPD: 1,5
Summary
The only nation that uses bows as their main weapons, however at the cost of being weaker in melee combat than any other nation. So use the same tactic as Persians used in history, volleys of arrows from many soldiers. You have to outnumber your enemy and kill them from distance, run with attacked soldiers and retreat damaged ones to back lines. If you master this tactic, you don't have to train your troops so much. But be aware of troops that get close to you, they could smash your soldiers quickly. Few Bersekers that reach your untrained troops can smash them to bloody mesh in few seconds. Biggest threat are nations with shields, they can survive much more arrows without taking any serious damage.
Vikings
- Basic close combat damage
- 6-12
- delay: 4
- Berseker damage
- 40
- delay: 120
- skill required: 50
- basic close combat ADPD: 2,25
- Berseker close combat ADPD: 2,5
- skill required: 50
Summary
Vikings are second Berseker nation. They have stronger attack than Japanese, but high delay mean much lower ADPD. So train your Vikings up to 50 combat skill and use concentrate Berseker attack or attack and run tactic.
Egyptians
- Basic close combat damage
- 5-9
- delay: 3
- Ranged damage
- 6-9
- delay: 7
- skill required: 40
- Berseker ranged damage
- 25
- delay: 120
- skill required: 70
- basic close combat ADPD: 2,333
- ranged ADPD: 1,071
- skill required: 40
- Berseker ranged ADPD: 1,209
- skill required: 70
Summary
Egyptians are the only berseker archery nation. With it they are really powerful in hit-and-run tactics. Fire your "Eye of Ra" from your full company on single soldier and pull back for a while. Time taking, but without danger. Their other sides, like quite low close combat damage or not so good standard archery is big drawback, making them quite poor until some of your soldiers hit 70 skill level.
Mughuls
- Basic close combat damage
- 5-11
- delay: 3
- Berseker damage
- 30
- delay: 100
- skill required: 60
- Shield
- skill required: uknown
- basic close combat ADPD: 2,666
- Berseker close combat ADPD: 2.88
- skill required: 60
Summary
Mughuls are third Berseker nation. They are something between Japanese and Vikings, basic ADPD and berseker ADPD higher then Vikings but lower then Japanese. But lower Berseker attack with high delay is disadvantage. But they have one advantage, shield. Encyklopedia don't speak about it, but you can find out in game. With it, they could be really pain for Persians or Zulus.
Zulus
- Basic close combat damage
- 4-7
- delay: 3
- Ranged damage
- 10-18
- delay: 15
- skill required: 30
- Shield
- skill required: 50
- basic ADPD: 1,833
- ranged ADPD: 0,933
- skill required: 30
Summary
Zulus are, like Chinese, fast trained as archers and their ranged ADPD is comparable. But Zulus aren't so shiny in close combat as Chinese, their have second worse close combat ADPD. So weak ranged attack is made by very big delay, two times larger then of other nations, on other side, their javelin deals good damage and then they can run away or, if they are fighting against archery nation, block enemy arrow thus lowering their ADPD by half! You'll have to really micro against close combat nations, but these, that fire arrows would be quite easy for Zulus.
